It is interesting that while this luxurious train is officially known as Deccan
Odyssey, the often-used acronym for the train is Palace on Wheels of Maharashtra.
Deccan Odyssey is relatively new addition to the list of luxury trains operating
in India. It is ambitious and costliest project of Maharashtra state government.
It has rightly added to the glorious tales of the mighty Maharathas. If Rajasthan
is proud of Palace on Wheels, then Maharashtra has Deccan Odyssey to boast of.
Deccan Odyssey is more than a mere train journey. The weeklong trip of
Deccan Odyssey takes you to the heritage sites of Ajanta and Ellora, the handicraft
village of Shilpa Gram, the Sula Winery at Nashik, besides the bustling cities
of Mumbai and Pune, and more. It is a magical experience of beating the limitations
of time, experiencing timelessness and getting engrossed in sheer luxury. The
