Desperately
seeking escape from torturous heat of Southern Plains, Americans and Britishers
were relieved after going through the reports of Lt. B.S. Ward. He was the first
European to visit Kodaikanal in the year 1821. Kodaikanal is one of the beautiful
hill stations in India, with its unique rows and rows of silky pine trees sloping
down to clear, cold streams, spectacular views which suddenly disappear in foamy
mist, people bundled up in sweaters and overcoats this is certainly not everyone's
mental image of India.
Located amidst the folds of the verdant Pali hills,
Kodaikanal acts in a way as a cold chilled glass of water does to a thirsty fellow
in a hot summer day. The magical effect of this serene hill station leaves everyone
mesmerized. Wooded slopes, mighty rocks, enhancing waterfalls and a beautiful
lake, all add to the charm of this hill station.
The breathtaking views
of morning mist over mountains rising high in the sky like clouds of smoke and
glittering waterfalls are the impressions that last forever. Truly, it is an ideal
place to spend your holidays, as there will be sheer pleasure!
