To the travelers from
overseas, one of the powerful attractions in India is the colorful and diversified
attire of its people. India is the only country where there is so much diversity
in clothing. This is because Britishers, Moguls, and many others have affected
the dressing sense of Indians. Not only this, the vast geographical variety demands
different attire for different seasons. The silk saris, brightly mirrored cholis,
colorful lehangas and the traditional salwar-kameez have fascinated many a traveler
over the centuries.
In Urban India, the signs of westernization are more
prominent. One can spot men and women in pants, Jeans, Shirts, Blazers, and other
tight fittings. The rural areas are still untouched by all pervading effects of
Westernization. In rural India, one can still find men and women in traditional
wear. Though, one can spot people in Urban India also in traditional wear, but
the trend is fast decreasing. Ghaghra, Shawls, and Sherwanis are worn on weddings,
both in rural areas and urban areas.
